The North Coast Cruise

From the Port of Mahón, specifically a stone's throw from the city center, the catamaran Don Joan with its 23 meters in length and two decks, the upper one with privileged views, the Marian breeze and the lower one with bar service and sheltered from the summer sun, sets sail for the north coast of Mahón.

Once embarked we travel the waters of the impressive port of Mahón contemplating the marks left by the intense history of this port in its architecture and islets, the Pinto Island just in front of the starting point of the Don Joan is testimony of the passage of time.

This island is part of the naval base and was built by the British, transforming a rock into a small peninsula.

We set sail east towards the mouth of the port of Mahón, touring and contemplating the beautiful houses that flank the coasts of "s'altra banda" and the Moll de Ponent.

When we arrive at "sa punta des Rellotge" after passing in front of the little mermaid Mô on the south bank, the port opens up forming a large bay within it, there we can see the future sailors of the Mahón Maritime Club training tirelessly morning and afternoon.

The Isla del Rey, an old hospital founded by the British, has been restored over the last decades by groups of volunteers who have restored it to its splendour, we will surround it and continue sailing to pass in front of Cales Fonts, the beautiful port of Es Castell or if the weather demands it ahead of the wonderful Venice house embedded in the middle of the sea.

On the way out of the port of Mahón we can also see the Lazaretto, an old hospital for plague patients that with its beautiful walls you will love to contemplate up close.

There is little time left to go out to sea and pass under the imposing cliffs of La Mola de Mahón, an old military fortress in honour  of Queen Isabel II and which can currently be visited.

At the end of its cliff we will turn "sa punta de s'esperó", a spur in Menorcan that will give way to the wild north coast of Menorca, where a series of black stone cliffs give name to one of its most emblematic capes, the "cap negre" already on the north coast.

We will skirt these cliffs passing in front of the beautiful summer enclave called "es Murtá" located on the way to the most famous beach of Mahón, "sa Mesquida".

In Sa Mesquida, one of the most beautiful coves in Menorca, with golden sands and wild landscape, the Don Joan will drop anchor and for a long time we will enjoy snorkeling and swimming in crystal clear and turquoise waters.

Those who do not want to can simply contemplate the majesty of Menorca's nature from our deck, the upper one provides special views and the lower one our bar service, with a cool shade.

Sometimes, the weather conditions do not force you to change your plans and sail south towards the beautiful and turquoise waters of Binibeca a beautiful beach with crystal clear waters near Sant Lluis.

Once we have enjoyed the sea in Sa Mesquida, we will sail back along the black cliffs of Cap Negre, Es Murtà, Es Freus, La Mola... enjoying the sea breeze and views that you will not forget.

The Don Joan is a comfortable and safe boat that provides great comfort, with its wide accesses, open corridors and an experienced crew that will be in charge of telling you the secrets of the port of Mahón and the Menorcan coast.

In addition, the underwater vision of the Don Joan will give you access to the marine world and to get to know the famous Posidonia first-hand, you will enjoy seeing how its inhabitants travel through it and merge in symbiosis with this plant that is responsible for keeping our waters clean and crystal clear.

Sailing to Sa Mesquida is wonderful, the only beach in Maó is spectacular and preserves its dune system, recently recovered, and those Menorcan airs that give it a special charm.

All that remains is to recommend you to have sunscreen, swimsuit, towel and a great desire to enjoy the sea of Menorca.

We look forward to seeing you on board!
